SaPiC is a product of MAPEDEON trading as Mapedeon Limited. References to “SaPiC”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in these Terms and Privacy Policy refer to MAPEDEON Limited as the provider and developer of the Service.
Welcome to SaPiC. Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) carefully before using the SaPiC mobile, tablet, or desktop applications (the “Service”). Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms.
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms or the Privacy Policy from time to time. Registered users will be notified of material changes before those changes take effect, where reasonably practicable.
1.1 Description of Service
SaPiC is an educational platform designed to help students develop critical thinking skills through interactive exercises, automated grading rubrics, and an AI tutor framework.
1.2 User Accounts & Authentication
Account Creation: Users must authenticate using approved single sign-on (SSO) protocols (including Google, Apple, or Windows Authentication) or by providing a valid name and email address.
Accuracy of Information: You agree to provide true, current, and accurate account registration data, including selecting appropriate age brackets.
Security: You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
1.3 Monetisation, Credits, and Purchases
App Licensing: SaPiC is free to download across all supported ecosystems (iOS, Android, Desktop).
Teacher Codes: School administrators or teachers may purchase digital “in-app codes” allowing them to provision tasks and evaluate classroom metrics.
AI Credits: Individual students or accounts may purchase digital credits to upgrade or expand their access to the integrated AI Tutor feature.
Payment Processing: All financial transactions and payment processing are handled exclusively through third-party platforms, namely the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or authorized Windows marketplace engines. SaPiC does not store your payment card details.
Teacher Code Limits: When a teacher generates a code from a single picture or task image, a maximum of 30 students may be assigned to that code.
1.4 Service Availability, Features, and Device Requirements
Standard Version Availability: Users of the standard version should be aware that, on rare occasions, the app may experience temporary service interruptions if access to underlying language model services is unavailable. Automatic switching to paid language model services is not enabled in the standard version, and this may temporarily affect app functionality.
Feature Changes: The developer may update, modify, enhance, or remove app features, including older features, at its discretion and at any time.
Screen Size Requirements: The desktop and tablet versions of the app may include enhanced features that are designed to work only on larger screens.
1.5 🤖 AI Tutor Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
Educational Tool Only: The AI tutor feature is designed solely to facilitate practice and help users develop critical thinking skills. It serves as an educational aid and does not constitute a replacement for human educators, certified academic advice, or professional assessment.
No Guarantee of Factual Accuracy: Artificial Intelligence is subject to “hallucinations” and may generate outputs that are factually incorrect, incomplete, biased, or outdated. SaPiC does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or utility of any response, advice, or feedback generated by the AI tutor.
Independent Evaluation Required: Users, teachers, and schools must independently evaluate all AI-generated suggestions before treating them as definitive truth.
Academic Integrity: SaPiC accepts no liability for how students use AI outputs in their official coursework. The student remains entirely responsible for ensuring their submissions conform to their specific school’s academic integrity and anti-plagiarism policies.
Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law in England and Wales, SaPiC shall not be held liable for any academic failure, lowered grades, school disciplinary actions, or misunderstandings resulting directly or indirectly from a user’s reliance on the AI tutor’s prompts or analysis.
1.6 Terminating and Deleting Accounts
Users have the right to delete their data from the application at any time. When a user selects the data deletion function in the application settings, their metrics and recorded inputs will be permanently removed from our active databases.
Users may also choose to remove their login details. If login details are retained, they will be used only to allow the user to access the Service again in the future and will not be used for any other purpose.
Students may use the app independently of their school. Data generated through independent use is not available to the school.
Teachers may access only the data generated from images or tasks they have provided to the student, and this data may be collected by the teacher and exported as a CSV file.
Students may delete their personal and school-related data at any time. However, data that has already been exported by a teacher before deletion may remain outside the application. Both independently generated data and teacher-assigned task data may contribute to the metrics summarised in the dashboard section.
2. Privacy Policy for SaPiC
SaPiC is committed to protecting the privacy of its users, particularly students and young learners. This policy outlines our compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Age Appropriate Design Code (Children’s Code).
2.1 Information We Collect
To provide a secure and functional educational environment, we collect the following minimal data points:
Identification Data: Full name, preferred name, and verified email address via your chosen SSO provider (Google, Apple, or Windows).
Demographic Data: Age bracket (used to ensure age-appropriate system responses and privacy protections).
Institutional Data: School name (only collected if the account is associated with a school framework or a teacher’s classroom).
Performance Data: Text inputs provided by the user, which are run against specified rubrics to calculate, monitor, and display skill level progressions.
2.2 How Data Flows and Who Sees It
Strict Privacy by Default: By default, a student’s text inputs and skill level analytics are kept completely private to that individual user.
Teacher Task Linking: If a user joins a classroom or actively responds to a specific task sent out by a verified teacher, the text input and associated analytical value data for that task will automatically be transmitted to that specific teacher’s dashboard.
Absolutely No Advertisements: SaPiC contains zero commercial advertising. We do not use user profiling, behavioral analysis, or user text strings to serve marketing materials. Your data is never sold to third parties.
2.3 User Control and Data Deletion
Total Right to Erasure: In accordance with the UK GDPR, any user can exercise complete control over their footprint. A “Delete Account” option is accessible within the application interface.
Retained Login Details: Where a user deletes their data, limited login details will be retained solely to allow the user to reuse the software at a later date. These retained login details will not be used for any other purpose.
Deletion of Login Details: Limited login details can also be permanently deleted by the user.
Image and Pin Deletion: If an image is removed, all pins associated with that image and all data linked to those pins will also be irreversibly removed. This will affect the data summarised and presented in dashboard metrics.
2.4 School Data Protection Addendum
This Addendum applies to institutional deployments where schools, local education authorities, or individual teachers utilise SaPiC to assign critical thinking exercises to groups of students.
2.4.1 Roles of the Parties
The School as Data Controller: The educational institution or hiring teacher acts as the Data Controller under UK data protection laws. The school retains ultimate authority over determining which students use the app and how student performance metrics are leveraged for formal grading.
The Student as a Data Controller: The student could delete all or part of the data collected and processed at any time. The student should be aware that the Teacher or hiring teacher can export only the data from the SaPiC database associated with the image codes given to the student by the teacher.
SaPiC as Data Processor: SaPiC acts strictly as the Data Processor. We process student inputs, calculate skill rubrics, and deliver AI tutor queries solely on behalf of, and according to the instructions of, the Data Controllers.
SaPiC as the Data Controller: SaPiC has built-in features for the students and teachers to permanently erase personal and processed data and as such has passed the role of data control to either the Student or to the Teacher or to the School.
2.4.2 Security Measures
SaPiC maintains industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to prevent unauthorized data access, accidental loss, alteration, or disclosure. All transit of login tokens and text inputs uses secure HTTPS encryption layers.
For school-wide enrolments, third-party marketing, cross-site behavioural tracking scripts, and advertising analytics are specifically disabled. Communications are conducted exclusively over standard HTTPS port 443. These controls are intended to support compliance with applicable student privacy and education data protection requirements, including COPPA and FERPA where relevant.
2.4.3 Sub-processors
The school explicitly acknowledges and consents to SaPiC using infrastructure sub-processors (such as cloud hosting engines and authenticated API pipelines for AI text analysis). These sub-processors are legally bound to uphold data security standards matching or exceeding those outlined in this document.
